Village Voice thinks white people have gone insane

This is why newspapers are dying:
"About 12:01 on the afternoon of January 20, 2009, the white American mind began to unravel.
It had been a pretty good run up to that point. The brains of white folks had been humming along cogently for near on 400 years on this continent, with little sign that any serious trouble was brewing. White people, after all, had managed to invent a spiffy new form of self-government so that all white men (and, eventually, women) could have a say in how white people were taxed and governed. White minds had also nearly universally occupied just about every branch of that government and, for more than two centuries, had kept sole possession of the leadership of its executive branch (whose parsonage, after all, is called the White House).
But when that streak was broken—and, for the first time, a non-white president accepted the oath of office—white America rapidly began to lose its grip."

So the Village Voice is basically saying that all these white people who voted for Obama are simply a bunch of racist that got distracted? Sort of like "oh my God, I didn't know electing a black guy meant having a black president."

I do wonder why would the white majority who voted for Obama would give a guy with only two years in the senate and a Marxist background a chance to be president? Could it be that they didn't want to be called racist for not supporting him? Was it liberal atonement for slavery and segregation aka "white-guilt"?

Or perhaps they allowed themselves to be bamboozled by a charlatan that gives pretty speeches and sells hope like an above average infomercial? White people haven't gone insane, it was a moment of temporary insanity that elected Obama, and after two years of failed policies and massive spending the insanity is gone.

No gays in the military but they allow this?

CNN reports: "The U.S Army has granted a member of a religious minority permission to keep his turban, beard and uncut hair while he serves in the military, the Pentagon and a group representing him said."

So let me get this straight, gays are supposed to be bad for unit cohesion according to the DOD, and homosexuality is a "lifestyle choice" according to social conservatives, but isn't being a Sikh a lifestyle choice as well? Is it not a choice to grow a beard, wear a turban and be a Sikh?

This is ridiculous, gays who want to serve in the military are not asking for special treatment, so why the hell should a bunch of weird Sikhs, a religion hardly anyone knows about, be welcomed with open arms?
